Offline RPGs that don't need a connection to shine

Finding a real RPG that runs fully offline is harder than it should be. Too many mobile RPGs hide the campaign behind an always-on connection. Here's what we keep coming back to when the signal drops.

Emberhollow Tactics leads the pack for us. It's a proper turn-based tactics game with a full story on-device. Positioning and party building carry real weight, and it never once asked me to reconnect.

If you want something lighter, look for RPGs that let you download story chapters ahead of time. The trick is checking the offline behavior yourself before a trip. Toggle airplane mode at the main menu — if it kicks you out, you have your answer.

Our advice: start a game at home first, get past the tutorial, then test it offline. Most breakage happens in the first ten minutes of a fresh install.
